About Music Professor Florentina Alexandru

Piano & Guitar Lessons with Professor & Author Florentina Alexandru

Florentina Alexandru was born in Pitesti, a very beautiful city in Romania. She grew up in a house filled with music. From an early age, she was exposed to the likes of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. Her family also enjoyed traditional Romanian music. She started studying piano at just five years old. Her first teacher was renowned Romanian conductor and composer, Ion Oprea.
In 1996, Florentina attended the Conservatory at George Enescu National University of Arts in Iasi, Romania. She had a concentration in Instrument Interpretation of Classic Guitar and Piano. She graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Classic Guitar and Piano Performance. In Romania, Florentina received many awards in classic guitar and piano interpretation. She performed at national music festivals and appeared on numerous television shows. While at the Conservatory, her thesis was selected by the National Department of Education Committee to be published as a textbook. A few years after graduation, Florentina came to America and began teaching music.
Her passion for music allows her to bring a force, energy and joy to teaching. This passion ignites her students as well. Florentina motivates her students to achieve goals that are meaningful to them. She sparks her students to want to learn about music and record their own music. She understands that a love of learning is key for the student’s future. Florentina currently lives in Florida where she continues to play piano and classic guitar. But her real passion is teaching. She has been teaching music for over fifteen years, educating students from the elementary school all the way through the college level. Her students described her as humble and modest – a person who always has a smile on her face.

Florentina Alexandru is the author of nine music textbooks for elementary and middle schools. Check out her music textbooks My Music Journal K-8. There are nine music textbooks, one music textbook for each grade level from kindergarten through eighth grade.
